Researchers at the Digital Studies Center (DiSC) work in the Rutgers-Camden Archive of Digital Ephemera (R-CADE) group doing hands-on research with what we call “digital ephemera.” Digital ephemera can range from older computing and game systems to defunct platforms. Currently, the R-CADE group is researching Bulletin Board Systems, a form of social media that predates the internet. Researchers are doing that research in a variety of ways, including archival research on old systems and hands-on work attempting to get a vintage computing system running with BBS software.
