“Voces de la comunidad: Connecting environmental perspectives in Camden, New Jersey”

Project Description:

The project aims to create a bilingual resource library for our local Latinx community by translating research on urban heat islands into Spanish in a way that the local community can easily understand. By actively involving the community and creating resources in both Spanish and English, this project will expand the local conversation around environmental justice through impactful public humanities work. Our goal is to democratize climate scholarship, making existing research accessible to the public, while also inviting the communities it describes to shape their own narratives around climate change, exploring unique perspectives that could redefine scholarly understanding. This project aspires to not only disseminate knowledge but also empower communities, fostering resilience in the face of climate risks.
