Well Played Videogame Research Group

Project Description:

Well Played is a research group based at the Digital Studies Center (DiSC). Members of the group do qualitative research on video games and other forms of digital recreation, using a variety of research methods and theoretical perspectives. Current research projects are focused on how moral and political discourses flow through digital recreational spaces, such as video game worlds, Twitch streams, and YouTube channels, shaping user perceptions and interactions in the process. The group is also open to developing new projects and research directions. In addition to doing research, members of Well Played also write internal DiSC white papers and create digital content, such as short videos or podcast episodes, to document and share the results of their work. Members also design events where audience members learn about the group’s research.
